First, double-check your power cable.

If it still does not function and your power switch and power cord are both fine, test the power supply.

Clean it up

Clean the circuit board. Pay careful attention to the area surrounding the CPU, for any potential shorts, burn marks, and so on. Use a soft brush to dust off any kind of debris seen. If you find any burns on the motherboard, it needs to be replaced.

Why is your MacBook’s Fans Running?

Fun Fact: A MacBook Pro fan should always be available. It should not, however, be too loud or operate at a high pace all of the time. If it is at maximum RPM (typically about 6000 on a Macbook Pro), this suggests that there is software on your Mac that is straining the CPU or GPU.

Here are a few ways you can remedy this situation:

-Reboot your MacBook. If the fan is always spinning at full power, try restarting it.

-Remove Flash in your browser. Flash is currently disabled by default in Firefox. Flashcontrol is a Chrome extension that allows you to deactivate Flash instances (it still allows you to view Flash on a per-site basis as needed). This is one of the most common sources of CPU/GPU stress, and it will undoubtedly boost the fan speed because Flash is so demanding on hardware.

The Shake Feature on Windows OS

This handy feature is called Aero Shake.

If your display is cluttered with windows, remove the clutter by grasping the top of the window you want and “shaking” it on the screen to collapse all the others. You may use Aero Shake to reduce other windows on your PC by shaking the one you want to fixate on. Here’s how to turn it on, since by default, Aero Shake is turned off:

  1. Open Settings, and click on System.
  2. Click on Multitasking on the left.
  3. Turn On or Off Title bar window shake for what you want.

Just FYI: When you use Aero Shake to reduce all unnecessary windows, you lose access to the other windows. They will reappear on your screen after you utilize Aero Shake to bring them back into view. Want to bring them back? Shake it again, and the windows will return.

How to Control Background Apps

In Windows 10, certain apps have the ability to run in the background so you don’t have to worry about them. This feature was put into place by Microsoft to allow notifications and app updates to users. However, there’s a large downside: battery consumption and possible data drainage. Thankfully, there is a way to control your background apps, if you prefer.

Here’s how to get there:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click on Privacy
  3. Scroll down and click on Background apps

From here you can choose to turn on or off your option to allowing apps run in the background. Or, you can choose which apps you would rather not run in the background. This works well for those who need certain apps continuing to function.

Internet Explorer Being Used by Hackers

Microsoft has notified users that cybercriminals are taking advantage of a previously unknown zero-day vulnerability.

This is happening in Windows 10 as well as various Windows Server versions. The exploit might allow unscrupulous people to take control of PCs via compromised websites or malicious Office documents.

“Microsoft is investigating reports of a remote code execution vulnerability in MSHTML that affects Microsoft Windows. Microsoft is aware of targeted attacks that attempt to exploit this vulnerability by using specially-crafted Microsoft Office documents.

An attacker could craft a malicious ActiveX control to be used by a Microsoft Office document that hosts the browser rendering engine. The attacker would then have to convince the user to open the malicious document. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.

Microsoft Defender Antivirus and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint both provide detection and protections for the known vulnerability. Customers should keep antimalware products up to date. Customers who utilize automatic updates do not need to take additional action. Enterprise customers who manage updates should select the detection build 1.349.22.0 or newer and deploy it across their environments. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint alerts will be displayed as: “Suspicious Cpl File Execution”.

Upon completion of this investigation, Microsoft will take the appropriate action to help protect our customers. This may include providing a security update through our monthly release process or providing an out-of-cycle security update, depending on customer needs.”

How to Geek states on their website, “We could see an official fix for the exploit on September 14, 2021, when Microsoft is set to do its next “Patch Tuesday” update. In the meantime, you’ll need to be careful and disable the installation of ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer.”

How to Use Dictate on a Mac

Will Windows 11 Be Better Overall?

Recently a proof-of-concept exploit code for the Confluence vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2021-26084, became public, and it didn’t take long for threat actors to begin scanning and exploiting vulnerable instances of the popular collaboration platform, for nefarious purposes like installing cryptominers.
