Quick Tip: Finding Files on Windows OS

We save so many documents and files on our PC due to school, work, or even personal time. The fact that we frequently fail to recall the location of a specific file is one of the most widespread problems when using Windows OS.

It’s possible that this will be a huge pain in the neck. As a consequence of this, we have some straightforward recommendations for you regarding this issue.

It is not necessary to search through the entirety of the computer and all of its files in order to locate a certain file. After confirming that you can still recall the name of this file, proceed to input it into the search box located in the bottom-left corner of the screen. You can click on the Start Menu, or click the Windows logo to get started.

The system will show the files with names that are similar to the one you wish to work with, and you will have the option to pick and open the file that you want to use.

Sharing a WiFi Password Through iPhones

iPhones include a handy feature that will allow you to share WiFi passwords to other iPhones. Although the execution is simplistic enough, there is a checklist:

First off, when using two iPhones to share a WiFi password, ensure sure they are both within range of each other. It’s also recommended that you make sure that your WiFi and Bluetooth are turned on and that your Apple ID is set up to allow you to share passwords with other people. You can do this by checking the toggles in the Settings app.

Both owners’ Apple IDs need to be in the other’s Contacts. Unless both of your Apple accounts are included in your contact list, shared files will not be available.

One iPhone has to be connected to the WiFi, while the other is trying to connect. Tap the Password Sharing button when a message pops up, requesting to provide the password.

The WiFi network’s password will be copied to the other phone and automatically filled in so that you may join the network.

Windows OS in S Mode

Windows 11 in S mode is a version of the Windows operating system that has been simplified for the purposes of improving both security and performance, while maintaining the Windows-like user experience.

What is S Mode, exactly?

Simply put, a Windows OS that has more restrictions and is harder to access is Windows 10, or Windows 11 in S Mode.

For instance, when using Windows 10 in S Mode, the only place from which you can download apps is the Store, and Microsoft Edge is the only browser that can be used to surf the internet. When using Windows 11 in S Mode, you can visit the Microsoft Store to download and install other web browsers. However, Edge will be set as your default web browser.

Long story, short: Only apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store are permitted, and users are need to have Microsoft Edge installed in order to conduct secure web browsing.

Security is enhanced, since malware cannot infiltrate through the internet in S Mode. You cannot install any form of apps from the browser.

What’s the point?

Tech blog, How-to-Geek explains it perfectly. “S Mode sounds limited, and that’s the point. If you only need a basic Microsoft Edge web browser, Microsoft Office applications like Word, and anything else that’s available in the Microsoft Store, you should try using the PC in S Mode. The S Mode restrictions provide additional protection against malware.”

Hackers Impersonating Big Corporations

If the system’s security mechanisms are weak, cyberbullies can gain access to any system. Without your knowledge, they can infect your computer using a number of means, including software and emails.

These assaults may be carried out for a variety of reasons, including the theft of personal information, the generation of financial gain, or the intentional destruction of business computer systems. For example, because Amazon is one of the most successful online retailers in the world, hackers routinely attempt to steal personal information from customers by impersonating Amazon. They are also purporting to be delivery emails, which is a little unnerving.

Did you know that you may take actions to increase your cyber-defenses, such as ensuring that your vital files and data are backed up to a secure cloud storage service? If not, now is the time to learn. We recommend using Carbonite’s online backup solutions since they will keep your data safe no matter what kind of threat or problem is thrown at them.

Avoid exposing your computer to any kind of malicious software by keeping it updated and patched. Create backups of any crucial files and store them in a safe location.

Microsoft Releases OOB Patch

Microsoft has released a patch to address a problem triggered by a previous patch that was intended to address a different type of issue. The company has released an out-of-band (OOB) update that addresses a fault that prevented applications downloaded from the Windows Store from operating properly on the PCs.

We shared a blog post back in January, explaining what an OOB is. Out-of-band patches are updates delivered outside of the standard release timetable. A patch, sometimes known as a “fix,” is a short technique for repairing software.

Microsoft states that, “After installing KB5011831 or later updates, you might receive an error code: 0xC002001B when attempting to install from the Microsoft Store.”

Simply put, some Microsoft Store applications may fail to launch. And to resolve the problem, Microsoft released cumulative update KB5015020. It will not be automatically installed, so users will need to personally install the patch for it to be fixed.

Go to Updates in your Settings app and select the update. Then download and install.

Your Mac Performance and Storage Space

If your startup disk is getting close to being full, you might get a warning about it. If you choose to ignore this warning, there is a chance that your Mac will no longer boot after you restart it. You might run into problems if your Mac doesn’t have enough storage space.

When there is insufficient storage space on your Mac, you may experience a number of problems as well as a noticeable delay, which prevents it from functioning at its maximum capacity. You may be unable to install a macOS update on your device if there is insufficient free space available on the device.

Your Mac breaks down and displays, under the Overview menu, the total amount of storage space that is being used by the various types of files that you have on your computer. The Finder provides a number of different approaches to calculating the amount of available storage space on your hard drive.

You could delete each individual file contained within the System folder using the delete key on your keyboard. You should only proceed in this manner if you are positive and are confident in that knowledge. In the event that something goes wrong with your Mac, you should make sure that you have a comprehensive backup of its storage.

Lagging Browser? Here Might be the Culprit

If you frequently experience issues with your browser, such as slow load times or crashes, you may be wondering why pages take so long to load. Most users are unclear of the various scenarios that can lead to this, let alone how to handle them. Although viruses and other types of dangerous software are commonly to blame for a slow browser, this is not always the case.

Here are a few ideas as to why your browser may be lagging:

Issues with the software as well as the hardware might be to blame for internet connections that are sluggish or choppy. If you have previously verified that the connection to your local area network (LAN) or wireless network (WiFi) is operational and robust, the issue may be caused by a dispute involving IP addresses.

An IP address is a number that is used to identify any device that is connected to a network that uses the Internet Protocol (IP) to communicate.

In the event that this does not resolve the issue, the fault may lie with the browser. It could be fixed by just restarting the modem or the router.

The efficiency of your browser may be improved if you delete the history, cookies, and cache of the browser. Added extensions often contribute to troubles, therefore eliminating ones that aren’t essential will be helpful in this case. You can try reinstalling your browser or switching to an altogether other one to see whether this addresses the issue and determine whether or not these difficulties still exist.

Communication Safety Feature Expanded

After a few weeks of testing, Apple has finally made the most recent versions of its mobile operating systems, iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5, available to the general public as of today.

With this specific version, iOS 15.5, the Communication Safety in Messages feature is now accessible in the United Kingdom, along with Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, according to reports.

This application, which was once accessible to users in the United States, is called Communication Safety in Messages, and it was developed to identify instances of nudity in images sent or received over iMessage on children’s electronic devices.

If it finds any, it will let the user know that the images in question could contain potentially harmful content. If a kid receives an image that depicts any inappropriate adult content, the photograph will be altered, and the youngster will be given information from organizations that advocate for the protection of children.

If a kid sends a photo to another child that contains related content, the recipient will get a notification warning them that the child is not allowed to share the image again.

Back in March, we made a blog post about how one feature in particular had become into a contentious topic of debate in a variety of online discussion boards.
