Change Windows Update Times

You can alter the the times your computer is available to update. And it’s easy to do so.

Schedule Windows Update to begin and end at certain times. The configuration tool may be launched by searching the Windows Update settings. The parameters may be updated to alter the active times. Select new working hours here. Make sure it’s set to the appropriate level for when the machine is powered on but idle.

This setting controls how often Windows automatically updates. When it’s the appropriate time, Windows Update will download the latest updates.

Background Windows Update downloads might bog down a sluggish Wi-Fi connection. If you want to prevent Windows Update from downloading unnecessary updates but still install critical fixes, you may do so by setting your internet connection to be metered.

To change your Wi-Fi settings in Windows, use the shortcut Win+I keys.
Metered connection may be activated by switching on the network connection type after selecting the desired network and clicking the appropriate button.

Stop Applications From Starting Automatically

After being installed, certain programs will operate in the background on occasion.

Even while it works for a few apps, its overall performance is poor. System performance drops when a large number of apps are set to launch automatically.

For optimal speed, unnecessary programs during startup should be disabled. The good news is that Windows makes it simple to eliminate auto-starters.

To stop applications from beginning automatically, open the Windows Task Manager. The key shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Then, click the tab labeled “Startup” towards the top of the screen. Most programs that launch automatically may be disabled from the Startup tab.

Performance Verses Power Saver

In Windows, you may choose between three different methods for your CPU’s clock speed to increase. One can choose between a Balanced, High Performance, or Power Saver mode.

High performance can help Windows operate quicker at the cost of battery life. The most suitable devices for this task are desktop computers.

On a laptop, the Balanced or Power conservation plans are the most practical options.

Power Options may be found in the Settings menu of your computer. Simply search it in the Start Menu.

System Restore on MacOS

Problems with your MacBook, such as sluggishness, freezing, or improper performance, may be easily discovered. However, if it doesn’t work either, a factory reset could be the last resort.

Erasing all your data and resetting your Mac to its original settings will also get rid of any viruses that may have been lurking in there. Your Mac’s essential files should be backed up with Time Machine or another trusted technique.

Access System Preferences through the Dock or the Apple menu to begin the process of resetting your Mac to factory settings. From System Preferences, click Erase All Content and Settings. Follow the instructions given to you to successfully wipe the boot disk.

If you erase the startup drive, your Mac will be reset to its original configuration and macOS will be reinstalled. You should also delete all of your data and preferences before selling or giving away your Mac. When you are ready to sell a device, make sure you use apps like Eraser or Permanent Eraser to delete any information that could be easily stolen. You can also search for apps in the App Store to find out what disk erasers are available.

Digital Theft is a Huge Deal

New and exciting pieces of digital gear and programs are being generated at a dizzying rate in today’s period of astonishing technological growth, and as a result, our environment is in a constant state of flux.

Whether it’s the newest smartphone, the tiniest and quickest laptop/tablet, or the most advanced and efficient storage component (SSD vs. HHD), technological innovations have revolutionized our daily lives.

The size, weight, and intelligence of our various electronic aids are always improving, and their use and capacity are being mined for ever-greater gains. Despite all the good that has come from our modern age of great technological progress, digital theft and computer hacking have sadly been on the rise and have spread widely, impacting not just large corporations but also the average technology user.

This population structure raises security concerns since virtually all of us keep hidden or financially important private information on our mobile devices. In addition, a user’s online activities can be traced back to them via their “digital footprint,” making some of their private information public.

Karls Technology Computer Repair has a lot of great services, such as finding and removing malware from a computer that has been hacked and recovering “lost” or encrypted data. Call us if you have any questions or concerns, want great advice on anything to do with technology, or want to know more about business IT consulting.

Accessing the Computer’s Components

Windows equips you with the instruments necessary to investigate your computer’s components, such as its CPU, GPU, RAM, and other elements. The information is scattered across a couple of locations in the operating system.

The “settings” tab is where your computer’s most crucial data is stored.

  1. To get started, go to the menu and click on Settings.
  2. Select System from the main menu.
  3. Click About.

Windows System Information provides a lot more detail. To access it, type in System Information in the Start menu. The app’s System Summary can provide all the data you want. More detail may be seen by expanding the left-hand pane’s branches.

Task Manager Change in Upcoming OS Update

Windows 11 version 22H2 will be released in a few weeks, marking the first major upgrade for the operating system this year.

Windows Latest states that the ribbon across the top now houses frequently used functions, freeing up more room in Task Manager for new options. With Windows 11 Build 22588, you may now generate a kernel or full crash dump straight from Task Manager, thanks to a new functionality being developed by Microsoft. In the event that Windows crashes due to a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), a dump file is automatically generated.

Also, one of the new features is the efficiency mode. It allows you to restrict system resources (CPU) for specific apps or processes. This function is useful for preserving battery life since it allows you to reduce the CPU utilization of specific programs while prioritizing those that require the most attention.
