Fraudulent Anti-Virus Apps Removed

Bogus Android antivirus apps that were being used to distribute malware were removed from the Play Store by Google earlier this week.

According to TechRadar, “These malicious apps were carrying Sharkbot, a malware strain that steals passwords and banking information. It shares push notifications and offers up fake login prompts, through which users share their credentials with the attackers.”

Uninstalling the apps immediately is advised for Android users who had downloaded them before they were withdrawn.

If you haven’t updated iOS 15.4.1, do it now!

Following the release of iOS 15.4, Apple has fixed an issue that might cause the battery to deplete more abruptly than intended after switching to the latest version of the operating system.

It is completely free to download and install the iOS 15.4.1 and iPadOS 15.4.1 upgrades, and the software is automatically downloaded and installed on all compatible devices over-the-air through the Settings app.

In addition, the iOS upgrade featured a security patch for the operating system. iPhones may have been compromised because of a security flaw, according to reports.

Apple doesn’t give a lot of detail about what’s fixed in iOS 15.4.1, to allow as many iPhones as possible to be updated before more attackers can get hold of the details. According to Apple’s support page, iOS 15.4.1 patches a vulnerability in Apple AVD, which could allow an application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.

Let’s Discuss What IE Mode Is

Recently, Microsoft has announced significant changes to Internet Explorer mode (IE mode), Microsoft Edge’s legacy compatibility mode. This news comes after they stated Internet Explorer 11’s end of service is just months away (June 15, 2022). So what is IE mode and what is it used for?

Microsoft explains it below:

We created Internet Explorer (IE) mode in Microsoft Edge for organizations that still need Internet Explorer 11 for backward compatibility with existing websites but also need a modern browser. This feature makes it easier for organizations to use one browser, for legacy web/apps or for a modern web/app.

To make it work, make sure your operating system has the most recent Windows and Microsoft Edge updates installed. If you choose not to do so, the performance of IE mode will almost surely suffer as a result.
