Turn off Android Alerts to Help Battery

Faster smartphones are on the horizon, and with each software upgrade comes a slew of new functions designed to streamline your daily routine. Unfortunately, this technology may potentially shorten the lifespan of your device’s battery.

If you have too many notifications set up on your Android, its battery life may suffer.

To enable alerts on your gadget, go to its settings and then notifications. A directory of available apps will appear. Select More to see every app that has been added to your phone. Pick the program you wish to limit the notifications it sends for.

To exit the program, toggle the off button next to its title. You can also access the individual apps’ notification settings by clicking on them.

Ads Included in Outlook on Smartphones

Users who utilize the mobile (iOS or Android) version of Outlook may choose between a unified inbox that contains all incoming messages or a tabbed inbox that divides incoming emails into two categories, which include “Focused” for high-priority communications and “Other” for everything else.

Microsoft has expanded its advertising to single-inbox mode, while previously it had only shown advertisements to free clients in the “Other” section.

According to sources, Microsoft has been progressively implementing this change over the past few months. Unfortunately, it means that it is now harder for free users to avoid advertisements on Outlook mobile. It hasn’t bode well for Microsoft, however. They’ve been receiving negative feedback because of it.

Nobody likes ads, and Outlook mobile users have left numerous one-star review complaints for the app on Apple’s App Store. Some on Twitter and Reddit have also been expressing their frustration over more ads appearing in Outlook mobile, but the only way to now avoid them fully is by subscribing to Microsoft 365.

Clear Clipboard on Android

Android smartphones always store the contents of the clipboard. To use a password on a website or app, users of password managers typically copy the password to the clipboard first.

Smartphone clipboard data is little. The clipboard is where your phone’s copied text goes. Tap to paste what’s on the clipboard. The clipboard gets new data. Clipboard Manager stores information from the Android clipboard. These data will make your phone run slower, use up memory, and store temporary information. Clear out the clipboard.

In the future, Android will preserve the password in its memory rather than erasing it. If someone were to steal or gain access to your phone, they might check your clipboard history and steal all of your passwords.

Therefore, it is essential to regularly delete the clipboard history.

Simply open an application that you copy/paste information on. Once there, press and hold on to the text box. The option “Clipboard” will come up. You should find a trash icon on the bottom corner of the screen.

When using Android, clearing the cache of the most recently used app will also clear the clipboard. A clipboard item or the app’s clipboard, whichever came last, is removed using this technique.

Fraudulent Anti-Virus Apps Removed

Bogus Android antivirus apps that were being used to distribute malware were removed from the Play Store by Google earlier this week.

According to TechRadar, “These malicious apps were carrying Sharkbot, a malware strain that steals passwords and banking information. It shares push notifications and offers up fake login prompts, through which users share their credentials with the attackers.”

Uninstalling the apps immediately is advised for Android users who had downloaded them before they were withdrawn.

New Feature for Windows 10 and Android Phones

Windows 10 is focusing more and more on Android lately. With their Your Phone application, they’re working to include the brand new “sent from phone” feature.

This feature will allow links, photos, and notes from your phone to your PC with ease. And while their main focus is Android, they’re hoping future updates will include the iPhone as well.

The Windows 10 update is not available just yet, as it is in beta testing with the Windows Insiders Program.

WindowsLatest shares that although it’s only for a few selected beta testing members, when it comes available, it’ll be easy to utilize. They state on their blog, “To use “sent from phone” screen, Microsoft says you’ll need to access the share menu on your phone.

In the share menu of Android, simply select ‘Your Phone companion’ option and shared contents will appear under ‘sent from phone’ screen, as shown in the screenshot below.”

YouTube is Getting a Facelift

In today’s world, more and more people are enjoying the experiences of watching and interacting with online videos on one very popular platform. Today, YouTube announced its upcoming updates on Android and iOS.

The new design will improve the layout of the videos while modernizing the app all around. The Autoplay button, for example, will be placed on the top of the phone’s screen.

According to YouTube, they state, “To make captions more accessible, we’ve moved the button to a more prominent location, directly on the video player on phones. We also have moved the autoplay toggle to make it easier to turn on or off while you’re watching. (We’ll be testing this on Desktop soon, too.) You’ll also notice small improvements to the player, like re-arranged buttons that simplify its look and snappier controls that make any action you take even faster.”

It’s pretty neat at how YouTube is revamping its phone app to make it easier for users to utilize. It also includes handy features, like Video Chapters, and one that allows users to be reminded that it is bedtime. To turn it off, just go to Settings.

There’s not much of a visual difference, but the updates are there. 9to5Google shares, “The general look stays the same, but the Google company has worked to optimize button placement and layouts, while adding some convenient shortcuts.”

Windows 10 and Android are Cross-Pairing

If you’re an Android AND a Windows 10 user, Microsoft has some good news for you. Since its departure with the Windows 10 phones, Microsoft has been working to refine the Android and iOS apps. Their main app, Your Phone app allows Android users to make phone calls on their PC, along with some other useful cross-device features.

According to Windows Latest, the newest feature they’re working on will permit “you to transfer files such as documents or even other contents from your Android device to Windows 10 or vice versa.”

There’s no release date for it just yet, but its believed that it’ll be out sooner rather than later. To download the Your Phone app, head over to the Microsoft Store and install it on your Android. Then link your phone to your PC.

Microsoft Updating Edge UI for Android

The Microsoft Edge user interface, or UI is currently in the testing phase with the latest beta build. This will upgrade the hub menu to enhance a more modern, curved look, along with a better access to what’s needed like history, favorites, etc.

According to Android Central, “The new hub menu is present where the old Continue on PC button used to be, and opens up a grid of icons that gives the user access to functions such as opening a new tab, read aloud, add to favorites, and continue on PC. The menu is also customizable, allowing you to add or remove whichever functions you wish.”

As of now, Microsoft Edge UI is only available to a handful of beta testers. This will soon change to every beta tester, then to the public. And Android only has the go on it. iOS is still waiting, but I’m sure it won’t be long.
