The useful function known as “Fast Startup” maintains your Windows OS in the hibernation mode so that it does not need to be completely relaunched after it has been shut down. This results in a significantly quicker reboot. Even though it is useful in the majority of situations, it may also cause Windows to become unresponsive, and either crash or freeze up.
To turn Fast Startup off, here’s what you gotta do:
- Go to System in the Settings App
- Choose Power & sleep and then Additional power settings
- Click Choose what the power button does
- From there, on Change settings that are currently unavailable, turn off the Turn on fast startup option
