iPhone Switching to USB-C

Because the European Union (EU) will mandate USB-C for all devices sold within its member states by 2024, Apple will be compelled to make the switch for the next generation of iPhones.

During this time, the European Union (EU) will require USB-C for all devices sold within its member states. Perhaps Apple will only upgrade iPhone models sold in Europe to integrate the new USB-C port, but it would add unneeded complication, so I expect the update to be rolled out to all of the company’s devices.

Though the change must be implemented beginning with the iPhone 16 in 2024, rumors have persisted that Apple plans to implement it with the iPhone 15.

If Your Computer Won’t Turn On, Here May Be Why

The last thing users need to happen when they’re about to jump on their PC is for it not to turn on. There is a possibility that your computer may not switch on because the power supply is broken or has died.

If the computer’s power supply is malfunctioning, the components of the machine will not receive sufficient electricity to function normally. The age of the power supply, faults made during production, or power spikes are some of the potential causes of a non-functioning or malfunctioning power supply.

In the event that there is a power surge, a greater number of components than usual will need to be inspected because it is likely that the surge rendered more than one component inoperable.

Redesigned Microsoft Store

In anticipation of the release of widgets developed by third-party developers for Windows 11, Microsoft has made some adjustments to the Microsoft Store.

This update brings about a number of useful changes, two of the most advantageous of which are improved efficiency and expanded accessibility.

If you are running a preview build of Windows 11, the Microsoft Store will automatically upgrade itself to version 22209 as you continue to use the operating system.

The modifications and enhancements that were introduced will be made accessible for use in Windows 10, which is compatible with the newly redesigned Microsoft Store.

Android Spyware RatMilad

“RatMilad,” a new Android spyware meant to spy on users and collect data, has spread throughout the Middle Eastern countries.

Zimperium found RatMilad and said it might be used for cyber espionage, extortion, or eavesdropping. Zimperium discovered RatMilad.

NumRent, a phony random number generator, is generating social media accounts. RatMilad can sideload if given the necessary permissions during installation.

How can you avoid this?

While this spyware isn’t particularly in the U.S., It’s prudent to stick to the official Google Play Store, scan any APKs you download with a trusted antivirus tool. You should be vigilant about app permissions during installation.

Windows 11 Remote Desktop Issues

Microsoft is looking into reports of Remote Desktop issues on Windows 11 computers following installation of the Windows 11 2022 Update.

According to Bleeping Computer, it is possible that after upgrading to Windows 11 22H2, Remote Desktop clients will either fail to connect, detach unexpectedly, or stop working altogether. Until Microsoft releases official fixes, you can reverse the Windows 2022 Update or prevent vulnerable clients from making UDP (User Datagram Protocol) connections.

Backing Up Your iPhone

Repeatedly saving your iPhone’s data is highly recommended.

Keeping a full backup is a smart idea even if your phone has never been lost or stolen. Your data is safe even if your device is taken or lost because you may be able to erase it remotely. You can rest assured that you will always have access to all of your data. Never forget that three copies of any data are needed before it can be considered legitimate.

When it comes to backing up your iPhone or iPad, iCloud, the cloud storage service offered by Apple, is a fantastic option.

Your favorites, contacts, reminders, photos, and other documents all use the same 5 GB of storage space that is associated with your Apple ID. If you need more GB, you can purchase it.

Secure Websites on Browsers

Whether you are just looking around, is planning to buy something, or you’re already a registered user, it’s important to stay vigilant with which websites you visit. Cybercriminals take advantage of unsecured websites.

Many hackers aim to break into unprotected websites. This is because, in theory, a malicious actor could eavesdrop on your conversations on these services.

You should immediately shut the tab if the URL begins with HTTP rather than HTTPS. To the left of the address bar in browsers like Safari is an icon of a closed padlock, indicating that the site is secure. When clicking on the padlock, this window will pop up:

Apple’s New Automatic Verification Feature

Automatic Verification, introduced in iOS 16, allows users to skip CAPTCHA validation by using iCloud to discreetly authenticate their device and Apple ID. It is no longer necessary to interpret squiggly language or tap on traffic signal graphics to demonstrate whether or not you’re not a bot.

According to MacRumors, iOS 16 automatically enables Automatic Verification in Apple ID > Password & Security > Automatic Verification. Apple says iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura, both in beta, will support the feature in October.

Remote Tech Support Can Be Risky

Using remote tech support is a high risk situation.

Scammers posing as remote tech help can install malware on victims’ computers. Malware can remotely access a device, allowing hackers to inspect its data and take control. If you encounter infected pop-ups, don’t call any of the known software tech companies.

Scammers will demand urgent payment or remote access to your device to remedy nonexistent problems. Fraudsters sometimes employ respected firms’ technical help departments. If you let a fake tech onto your computer, you risk identity theft and surveillance. Microsoft never contacts malware victims.

Fraudsters often appear as respectable enterprises, but they’re anything but. Never give remote access or bring your PC to an unknown service.

Webcams Can Be Hacked

The webcam can be compromised if an unauthorised program, application, or device is used that contains a vulnerability that hackers can exploit.

Malware can inadvertently be acquired by users when they interact with phishing links, download malicious attachments, or visit compromised websites. This software could be used by an intruder to secretly record from a victim’s camera without their knowledge.

Disable or remove your external desktop (not laptop) webcam while it is not in use to avoid remote online access to your camera stream from cyberattackers.

In addition, updates to webcam software strengthen safety. Be on the lookout for new releases, and implement them as quickly as possible.
