It also covered about 250 million conversational records between Microsoft support and customers from 2005 to 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Our investigation has determined that a change made to the database\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/virtual-network\/security-overview\">network security group<\/a>\u00a0on December 5, 2019 contained misconfigured\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/virtual-network\/security-overview#security-rules\">security rules<\/a>\u00a0that enabled exposure of the data. Upon notification of the issue, engineers remediated the configuration on December 31, 2019 to restrict the database and prevent unauthorized access.
